John Lumsden

JOHN LUMSDEN, was born about 1827 in County Wexford, Ireland. His parent are William Lumsden and Unknown mother. He married Mary King on 28 January 1850. It is from the marriage record that we find the name of his father William. Passenger lists from Ireland to the United States show John, Mary and an infant daughter immigrating to the U.S. in 1851.
The first census record that John Lumsden appears on is in 1860. John, Mary and three children, Annie, Martha (Jennie), and John are living in Scipio, Hillsdale County, Michigan. It isn't until 1870 that we find them again living in Fayette, Hillsdale, Michigan. There are no additional children born to John and Mary. Their family would remain relatively small by 19th century standards.
In 1880 John, Mary, Jennie and John have moved to Rives, Prince George, Virginia. From there the trail ends and no additional records are found. There are no death or burial records or information that leads us to believe they have moved elsewhere.
