Lee Latimore Lumsden 1896 - 1957

LEE LATIMORE LUMSDEN, born 20 April 1896 in Tuskahoma, Pushmataha, Oklahoma.
The Lumsden family moved frequently but Lee spent most of his youth in Oklahoma.
Lee registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 in Bonanza, Oklahoma. On 24 February 1918 he began his service in the U.S. Army. He met his future wife, Blanche Beatrice Locke prior to his service. At that time Blanche was living in Pocola, Oklahoma.
After Lee's army service he and Blanche were married on 24 January 1921. They were married in Sebastian County, Arkansas.
They settled in Bokoshe, LeFlore, Oklahoma. There eight children were born to Lee and Blanche; Beatrice, Joe, Bob, Billie, Carmelita, Deloras, Leon, and Jimmy Dale.
During these years in LeFlore County, Blanche contracted Tuberculosis and was admitted into the Eastern Oklahoma Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Talihini, Oklahoma. Near the end of her life she gave birth to her last child, Jimmie Dale while in the sanatorium. Five days after giving birth she died as a result of the tuberculosis that had over taken her body.

Lee did what he could to take care of his young family but his work as a minor took him away from home. While he was gone, his oldest daughter Bea (Beatrice) who was only 18 at the time, and her new husband Charles took the family in to help raise them and provide a stable environment.
The last few years of Lee's life were spent in Northern California. He died on 7 November 1957 and is buried in the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California.
