Darthula Tucker
DARTHULA R TUCKER, was born 8 March 1880 in Sebastian County, Arkansas. She is the oldest daughter of James Benton Tucker and Mary Mathis.
Darthula married John David Locke on 30 August 1898, Darthula and John are the parents of seven children, Blanche, Dolphia, Audie, Ollie, Jesse, Modest, and Eugene. These children are born over a span of thirteen years. Their time as a family here on earth would be short for both Darthula and John died in or before 1920, Parents for a short 21 years. Their oldest daughter Blanche was 21 and the youngest, Eugene was only 8.
The 1920 Census shows the Locke children living with their uncle, John Bayless Tucker who was Darthula's only brother. It is unclear why the Locke children are living with their Uncle John Tucker in 1920. I recently spoke to a Locke cousin who told me that he remembered hearing that Darthula and John David Locke both had Tuberculosis. If this is true they may have been in a local Tuberculosis hospital. The census record that John Tucker and the Locke children appear on was taken in January 1920. Just days after that census record was enumerated Darthula, Dolphia, and Eugene appear living with Darthula's sister Lola Lorene and her husband Charles Pope in New Mexico. Darthula states that she is a widow at this time. Darthula died on 9 May 1920.

John David Locke 1876-1920
JOHN DAVID LOCKE, was born on 4 February 1876 in Henderson County, Kentucky. He was the oldest living child of Henry David Locke and Cornelia Alice Brickey. An older sister Ella F. Locke born 13 February 1875 died just 4 months after her birth on 10 June 1878 of Cholera Infantum.
Records chronicling John's life are scarce. In the 1880 census we find John, his parents Henry David Locke and Cornelia Alice Brickey, and a younger sister Lillian Camilia living with Cornelia Alice Brickey's parents, James Allen Brickey and Priscella Ann Gish in Marion, Sebastian County, Arkansas.
Census records for the Locke family show all of John's younger siblings being born in Henderson County Kentucky. His parents are buried in Sebastian County. This was where they made their home for life.
John married Darthula Tucker on 30 August 1898. Their first child, my grandmother Blanche Beatrice Locke, was born a year later on 3 August 1899. Later census and birth records show some of John and Darthula's children being born in Oklahoma and some born in Arkansas. Sebastian County, Arkansas and LeFlore and McIntoch Counties, Oklahoma, are the areas that John and Darthula lived in during their lives. The counties were just across the State borders from one another so it is easy to see why some of the children are born in Oklahoma and some in Arkansas.
By 1910 The family is living in McIntoch County, Oklahoma. Within 12 years of being married John and Darthula would wecome 6 children into their family namely Blanche Beatrice, Dolphea, Audie Lee, Ollie Mae, Jesse David, Modest Marie, and Eugene Clifton Locke.
John David Locke died in 1920. The exact date of his death is not known. He is buried in the Leard Cemetery in Pocola, LeFlore County, Oklahoma

Claiborn Davis Means
CLAIBORN DAVIS MEANS, was born 15 April 1849 in Andrew County Missouri to Jesse Clemmons Means and Margaret G McMahon. A sister Sarah Caroline was also born of this Union in 1848. By the time the 1850 Census was taken Sarah does not appear with her family. The assumption is that she died sometime before this. Claiborne would also lose his mother by March of 1851. His father soon married a woman by the name of Margaret Terhune. There has often been confusion between the first Margaret and the second.

John Henry Lumsden
JOHN HENRY LUMSDEN, is the son of John Lumsden and Mary King. He was born April, 1858 in Hillsdale County, Michigan. John Henry was the first American born citizen of my Lumsden clan. As such, very little is known of him. Census records from 1860 and 1870 show him as a child living with his mother and father and two older sisters in Hillsdale County, Michigan. By 1880 the Lumsden family had moved to Prince George County Virginia.
In 1891 John married Sarah Della Tignor Means in Indian Territory, Oklahoma. To this union were born five children, Mary Lattie, Jennie Bell, Lee Latimore. Moday Mae, and Edward Daniel Lumsden. Sometime after Edward Daniels birth in 1901 john and Sarah Della's marriage ended. Relatives have two possible scenarios. First that he left the family due to the rift in the marriage and two, that he became a U. S. Marshal in McAlester, Oklahoma and was killed and left for dead. The family doesn't have so much as a single photo of him. There is no information about where he died and is now buried.
